Not an ARC Review. Sometimes I play book roulette and pick a rando from my Kindle Unlimited List. This is one of those reads.
Please note this is not a spoiler and is the actual premise of the book. The book starts with Grace Murphy holding a man hostage while forcing him to eat cheap dog food and subjecting him to other types of torture.
The book continues as we learn that Grace has a relatively normal life. She works at a coffee shop, takes care of her drug addicted sister and has healed from a traumatic childhood. The author takes us back in time to give us glimpses into Grace's childhood and then reels us back into the future where Grace is on a full-blown revenge mission against the men that harmed her and her sister in their childhood. Grace is friends with the detective who met her when she was young and who kept a watchful eye out for Grace and her sister as their mom was a trash mom.
I enjoyed the bones of this book. The plot line was laid out well and the characters were likable enough. The psychological twists were a bit too easy to see and within the first few chapters I had it figured out. I had hoped by the end that there would be something I would have missed but, unfortunately that wasn't the case. In another life I was a detective. 🕵🏻♀️
I would consider this an easily binge-able psychological thriller that doesn't take a diagram and a map to figure out the twists. If you're looking for a quick read that you don't have to pull out your detective hat for, I'd recommend The Good Girl.
This is a solid 🌮🌮🌮 and I'd even give it an extra half taco for the 🧀 (fillers- character development and story structure).
