A Cozy Grown Up Fairy Tale Series

Jayelle Ravenshade

Fall and spooky season are my favorite times of the year. I fill up on pumpkin spice everything and grab cozy murder mysteries, fairy tale romances and

anything creepy and spooky.

I started this series from Nicole Scarano earlier this year with Autopsy of a Fairy Tale and I was thrilled when book 4 came out in late September. This fairy tale inspired series follows Isobel Emerson, a detective in a fictional town, as she solves murder mysteries inspired by legends, myths, fairy tales and fables.

Isobel is a smart, strong and resilient female main character that is fun to watch 'grow up' throughout this series. The supporting characters are loosely based on other fictional characters and it's an enjoyable series that, while based on other stories, isn't a direct retelling of other tales. Too often retellings are almost a direct copy of the original story with new character names. This series certainly is not that.

The first book, Autopsy, was a little slow for me initially however, by the end of the book I was looking forward to the next one. I recommend diving into this series, especially during fall. The books are cozy reads, not scary, and they're quick reads if you're looking for something you can get through in an afternoon.

Warning: Book 4 ends in a cliffhanger and book 5 doesn't come out until next year. 😩

The first 4 books are available on Kindle Unlimited or available for purchase online.
